Description
The principal scientific focus of the Service of Wood Biology of the Royal Museum for Central-Africa is the ecology and management of the Congo Basin rainforests. Two BRAIN projects studied these themes from two different angles : Afriford and Herbaxylaredd. Stakeholders for both projects comprised international programs like REDD+ of the United Nations, MAB of Unesco, the CITES convention, European mechanisms like FLEGT and EU Timber regulation. The objective of the action is to support policy in the fields of Congo Basin forest conservation, management and enforcement. Results and insights accumulated during the Afriford and Herbaxylaredd projects that are relevant for the Congo Basin forests policy will be translated to policy briefs in close collaboration with stakeholders from different fields. Polcartim is a short term action after the end of the Afriford and Herbaxylaredd projects.
